Hawaii Newborn and Baby Portraiture by Simply Baby { Kailua & Honolulu, HI } bio picture
  • Love is the purest form of art.

    As the mother of three (that's me to the left, with my youngest), I know all too well how fleeting baby's first year is. Your love grows along with your baby, but memories fade with passing days. What do you most want to remember about those first moments? The tiny toes, downy soft cheeks and dream smiles? The way he grasps your finger tighter than you'd imagine possible, or how she fits so perfectly cuddled into the curve of your shoulder?

    Newborn portraits are truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. And as your baby grows, there are other milestones you'll want to record- gummy grins, sitting proudly, standing tall and of course baby's very first birthday.

    Simply Baby Photography was born out of my love for my children, and my desire to capture the pure beauty of babyhood along with the special bonds of family. I would be honored to share your family's story through my art.

Smiling Maree {Kailua newborn portraits}

Little Maree was one of the happiest newborns I’ve seen! She smiled at least six times during her session and was a joy to photograph.

With her delicate features and rosebud lips, Maree was definitely pretty in pink! The little doll bed was a perfect fit.

She got to be the first to try out a new prop- this white wicker basket. I adore her lips and kissably chubby cheeks!

All her little features were absolutely perfect, from her long fingers and toes to her button nose and downy little ears. It’s amazing how fast babies grow and change, and all to easy to forget how they looked in those first days. I like to think when parents look at these images months and years later, they can remember the brand new baby scent and feel of their soft skin.

Rynn, 6 months {Kailua baby portraits}

Little Rynn was, without a doubt, one of those most beautiful babies I’ve had to joy to photograph. All her expressions were absolutely adorable.

I love the mod dress mom chose for the first part of the session- so fun yet simple.

Bitty baby grins- check out those first teeth coming in! Her eyes just sparkle.

Baby posing on vintage bed

I honestly could not have asked for a better model. Beautiful hair, gorgeous smile, bright eyes and she has picture perfect poses down already!

Babies photographed with simple vintage style sets make classic portraits that will be treasured now and for generations to come.

And speaking of classic- this pose is great for babies from 4-9 months and shows off those wonderfully chubby arms and legs. I can’t be the only one who wishes they could nibble on baby toes all day long, right?

And this one above might be my favorite from the session, with her confident smirk, darling curls, and chubby fingers.

Chubby baby cheeks and details

Details like those curls and petite lashes, the soft curve of her cheek- these are the things you’ll want to remember always. Each baby is perfectly unique and special, and I was so glad to have the opportunity to photograph little Rynn and her family.

Micah {Oahu newborn photography}

Sweet baby Micah, ten days old. Sessions often begin with simple poses like this one that capture all the details parents try to memorize in those first days- kissable cheeks, button nose, barely there eyelashes, and soft wispy hair.

Micah was curious about the studio and woke up for a bit. He made amazing eye contact and I could tell he was taking in everything he saw.

For family portraits, he stayed calm and bright eyed.

Then he went back to sleep in dad’s loving arms. I can definitely see a strong resemblance here.

Many new mothers are a little hesitant to get in front of the camera postpartum, which I can relate to- a week after having your baby you’re still not feeling your best. I’m glad Nichole was happy to pose with her brand new baby boy, and trust that me to capture the beauty of the mother-child bond. And she’s positively glowing- I wish I looked half this good after having my kids!

And finally, all snuggled in a basket with more of those bitty baby details.

Micah, I’m looking forward to watching you grow- and seeing whether you stay a serious baby or develop your parents’ wonderful sense of humor!
