Natural newborn portraits in studio in basket and on blanket
It may have been a gray day outside, but Miss A brought the sunshine! We captured so many sweet sleeping smiles during her studio newborn session. She has the best head of hair too!

Baby girl sleeping in little bed photos
A tiny bed fit for a little sleeping beauty- the doll bed really shows just how small newborns are. They grow so quickly that by about one month old, this bed won’t be big enough. Most newborns are photographed at about 6-12 days of age (or within 2 weeks hospital release for preemies/NICU babies) when they’re still small, sleepy and like to curl up into womblike poses.

Brand new family portraits with one week old baby
Family portraits are often my favorites- there’s nothing like celebrating the love and joy a new baby brings. These sweet moments with mom and dad are to be cherished. Often new moms aren’t feeling their best- pregnancy and delivery are physically demanding- and are sometimes reluctant to pose with baby, but I promise the results are always worth it. Each mama and baby I photograph is unique and special, and every single one is beautiful. Love and a soft smile are even more transformational than makeup. It was definitely an honor to meet and work with Miss A and her family.

Little Miss T was full of smiles for her session!

Her mom contacted me when she was nearly 2 weeks old and luckily I had a last minute newborn opening as my next tiny client hadn’t yet arrived earthside. While most newborn photographers have a cutoff date around 12-14 days, I often find “older” newborns do just as well if not better than those under a week old and T was no exception. She was perfectly curly and sleepy.

I love the huge grin getting cuddles from mama! Both mom and dad adore their baby girl and she was quite content in their arms.

Newborns are only this tiny once, and the scale (set to birth weight) is a great way to show their size. The butterfly headband was a new prop I recently got in studio and she modeled it beautifully! I’m always adding new props (and yes, selling old ones) so there’s always something fresh and unique. The basket pose was a new setup- when I heard her nursery was cream, gray, and pink I knew these colors would be perfect.

Oh, those tiny details! Macro images are some of my favorites, capturing the smallest of details. I think she has mom’s lips!

Thank you again K family! I’m so glad things worked out so I could meet you and your sweet baby girl. She is an absolute delight and wonderful things await her 🙂

To book your newborn session, email me at In a given month I only have 1-2 last minute openings available, so I recommend booking early! October is nearly full and limited November and December dates are available.

Not one but BOTH of this handsome little man’s parents are pilots- how awesome is that? Of course his nursery is a plane theme so we absolutely HAD to get a portrait of him with the vintage style plane. We did have to work for it a bit but once he settled he did great.newborn_airplane_prop_kailua-simply_baby

Look at those gorgeous eyes! A heartbreaker in the making for sure. With that head full of hair and those sweet cheeks, he’s one of the handsomest babies I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.

Parent portraits are often among my favorites from newborn sessions and this one was no exception. You can just feel the love between parents and baby.

We planned to do beach portraits, and it took nearly two weeks before the weather cooperated! It’s been a wet year so far, which makes outdoor sessions challenging. Conditions have to be just right to take babies out for a short time, and they’re kept warm and safe from the sun. The wait was worth it- he did wonderfully and the weather was incredibly beautiful!

And here it is in print. This is the Butterfly Kisses collection sans the 16×20 canvas, which takes a little longer to deliver. Everything came out absolutely perfect!
