I couldn’t have asked for a better way to wrap up 2013 than with baby Kala’i’s newborn session. Not only was he gorgeous with a full head of hair, he was an absolute dream to photograph.
And he was a smiley little guy too- this is just one of the smiles we captured!
The light in the studio was especially beautiful that day, highlighting every precious detail.
I’m always on the lookout for new props, and I was excited to try out this scale. As always, safety first- parents were edited out of this image, and he was never more than a few inches above the beanbag.
I love witnessing the bond between parents and baby, and while not all parents are comfortable with shirtless portraits I love the intimacy of skin to skin. Holding baby close is comforting and helps regulate their temperature, heartbeat, and sleeping patterns. And of course, with ink like this, who wouldn’t want to show it off? I don’t think I’ve ever seen such beautiful and detailed work, and I just may have squealed a bit (quietly of course!).
Last but not least, swaddling is a great way to help babies relax after a feeding break.
I’m so glad I met you, sweet boy! I see wonderful things ahead for you.
